Leadership Coaching
For many, it is easy to identify someone as the leader. There’s an aura about them, how they interact with others, how they deliver their message, how others perceive them. These are qualities that can be learned through leadership coaching.
Leadership coaching is about the development of effective executives capable of leading and motivating the team. Leaders can be defined as people who:
- Really listen, not simply nods in agreement or disagreement.
- Trust themselves to do the right thing.
- Empower others to do the right thing.
- Take responsibility for their decisions, right or wrong.
- Communicate effectively the message in a truthful and direct manner.
- Are willing to take action.
- And so on…
Leadership coaching doesn’t define a leader as having all the answers. Rather, a leader has the wisdom to seek out an answer from those who have the knowledge. As leadership coaching will teach you, leadership is about knowing what to do.
Leadership coaching is intended for executives and businesses looking to integrate leadership skills into the company’s executive staff. Often leadership coaching will suggest a series of assessments to give a mirror for viewing behavior and how it can be improved.
Leadership coaching begins with discovery of personality traits and preferred ways of handling situations. It explores work styles and the work environment. Leadership coaching inventories perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and leverages strengths.
What can you expect during leadership coaching? Be prepared to spend one to three hours per session with the selected leadership coaching provider. Expect them to begin with a lot of questions. In order to meet your expectations leadership coaching needs as much information about your business, your employees, your motivations, and your qualities as they can gather.
Once this information is gathered and processed, the coach will present suggestions on a plan of action. Because leadership coaching has a strong commitment to the equality of the coach/client relationship, you and/or your staff participation in the development of a final plan will be expected.
Over the course of your leadership coaching training, you can expect to be challenged, maybe even confronted, about how you’ve always done things and what may need to be changed as a leader. As with any learning process of value, from time to time leadership coaching will ask you to go beyond your area of comfort.
Any successful business must have strong leadership. Leadership coaching will help your executive staff implement those skills and lead your business to greater success. For more information on how to develop your business, feel free to explore other pages on this site.
